National Preparedness Month

Hi everyone!! It's September already (can you believe it?) and it's National Preparedness Month! That's right, our government knows that they can't do it all, so they want us to prepare on our own! That's one of the smartest things that our government does--encourage people to do for themselves! It's kind of like they gave us preppers our own holiday month!!! So, what will you do this month??


First off, I hope that you took advantage of paper sales in August to stock up on paper products in your preps. I made an oops! of buying too many paper plates, so I passed some along to someone else that I thought might need them.


For September, let's take a bird's eye view of our prepping plan and find out what needs our attention.

*Do you have bug out bags for all members of the family? (If you're missing a few items, collect them this month.)
*Do you have a bug out location?
*Do you have water stored at your home and bug out location?
*Do you have a well-rounded start to your food preps? Grains, protein, fruits, veggies, treats, seeds.
*Do you have other drinks besides water?
*How will you handle lighting issues in an emergency?
*How will you cook in an emergency?
*How will you handle hygience, bathroom usage, staying clean?
*Do you have a small stash of small dollar bills?


Ask yourself the above questions and more to determine where your holes are this month. Write it down. Where are you now and where do you want to be? Then make a plan to get yourself, as quickly as you can, to where you want to be. That's September's work: find our prepping holes, figure out how to fix them, and make a plan to get the fixin' done!! It's our month--let's celebrate!!
