What's Happening???

Hi everyone!! Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. I guess I needed a break after the 12 days of prepper Christmas!! lol

Not much going on here personally. There has been some crazy weather happening in other places, though. Did you hear about the 300 cars that were stranded on an Ontario highway? Drivers spent the night in their cars! I hope they had their emergency car kits! (If they didn't, you can bet they put one together after they got home--for the next time!!) Indiana, Michigan, and Minnesota have been experiencing heavy snowfalls. U.S. Sugar company has experienced freezing weather and severe damage of their sugar cane crop. We saw this situation last year as well as this week: Sub-Freezing Temperatures Maul Florida Citrus Crop.

All of these weather situations that affect crops mean that we could see prices rise on all these foods in the future. Do you use sugar? Like to drink oj? I'd suggest that you stock up while you can and while prices are low! You might still be able to find sales on sugar in the next week. Check your local sale ads!

I pulled a package of tortillas out of my fridge the other day, and was surprised to see that the amount of tortillas included has gone from 10 to 8! Of course the price of the package has stayed the same. This is one of the ways that inflation affects us. Prices stay the same, while the packaging shrinks. It means you pay more and get less for your money.

Pay attention to what you buy; shop sales; use every bit of food you have with out wasting it. Make your money go farther and you can survive and maybe even thrive in our economy. Remember that when you work, you trade your life for money, to turn around and trade your money for stuff. So, you're really trading your life for stuff. Is that 'stuff' worth your life?? Think carefully before every purchase. I know this is hard to do at this time of year. Christmas in much of our society is a time of excess. It doesn't have to be that way, though. Spending time with family and friends doesn't cost anything and will make for a rich holiday celebration.

Prep On!
