Feeling down and deflated

I just watched this video of Ron Paul on the house floor talking about how on Feb 3, 2010 National Intelligence Director Dennis Blair acknowledged that American citizens can indeed be assassinated at our government's discretion. What? As Dr. Paul says, we've known for years that the cia secretly does this, but they knew it was immoral so they kept it quiet. Well, I guess they no longer feel it's wrong because they're openly admitting it, and admitting that Americans are their targets as well as foreigners.

I don't know about you but that just completely deflated me. I had to cry after watching the video. How? How could we come to this? Oh, I know we've been steering the train that direction for years, but, how? Why is nobody in an uproar? Why is this the first I've heard of it--almost a month later? What is the matter with us?

All I can say is that ammo should be one of your prep items, and a shooting range should be a familiar hang out.

Please take 5 minutes to watch the video and hear Dr. Paul's opinion of this and they way it affects our liberty. "...we have a government that deliberately orchestrates needless fear and makes people insecure enough to ignore the reality of their lost liberties." Ron Paul

Too Much Freedom? and Ron Paul's State of the Republic Address

Hi all! Hubby told me about a conversation he had with someone today, which left me completely dumbfounded!! He was speaking with an older gentleman in his 70's who was born in Germany during WWII, and moved to America when he was a young adult. This man told hubby that he believes we are TOO free in this country, and that it's a bad thing!!! (Is your jaw hanging open like mine was?!) What this man was saying, but probably didn't realize, was "Hubby, I don't think you should have as much freedom as you do. I think you should be living more slave-like". This information left me so unnerved. Is this what we're fighting against? Not only 'leaders' who don't want us to be free, but other citizens who will fight against freedom?

The more I thought about it I realized that, for some people, other people having freedoms could seem scary. I'll draw on an example from my own life. We homeschooled our children through their high school graduation. Our reasons for home schooling them were because we wanted them to have the best education, be protected from bad influences, and to be free from government dictating what and how they learned. These are all great reasons to home school. But, these reasons can be twisted and frequently are by some families. The outside world can be seen as so evil, that absolutely no unsupervised contact is allowed. "The children might go astray. The children might desire to do something they shouldn't do. We might lose them". Now, those are all valid reasons for doing something, but if fear is your motivator it will usually cause you to limit someone else's freedom, instead of equipping them to hopefully handle their freedoms responsibly. (Obviously, I believe that growing children are better protected from these evils.) Alcohol use is another example of something that people are free to use, but could be something that they abuse. BUT THEY STILL HAVE THE FREEDOM TO USE IT, even though some people's use can scare us. We all have the freedom to mess up. Unfortunately, we'll can pay greivous consequences for our bad choices in our freedom.

So, do we limit freedoms because some people will abuse them? Thomas Jefferson didn't think so. He said, "I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty, than those attending too small a degree of it." I think that's a great attitude to have. I want freedom, true freedom like God gives and our constitution protects. And that means that I want you to have those freedoms as well.

I did not watch the president's SOTU address last night. I absolutely cannot stomach that display of lies, coverups, and pompous back-patting. Instead I watched Congressman Ron Paul's State of the Republic address online. (I'm a HUGE fan!) For those of you who don't know who Ron Paul is here is a brief overview of his record He has never voted to raise taxes. He has never voted for an unbalanced budget. He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership. He has never voted to raise congressional pay. He has never taken a government-paid junket. He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch. He voted against the Patriot Act. He voted against regulating the Internet. He voted against the Iraq war. He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program. He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year. Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress. (Can you believe he lost the 2008 GOP nomination to McCain with a record like that?)

Here is a link to part 1 of his state of the republic address. Parts 2 and 3 can be linked to after viewing part 1. (I thought part 3 was the best one!) The 3 videos are just shy of 20 minutes.
